Spartans win the 2021 All City Tournament
The LHS Spartans won the 2021 All City Championshio with two dominating performances on Saturday September 18. The Spartans defeated Pennfield in the semifinals 5-0 and defeated Battle Creek Central in the championship 7-2. This is the third straight season the Spartans have claimed the championship. The Spartans improve their record to 7-4-1for the season. Coach Trent Heil was elated with his team’s performance stating “The boys earned this! They came together on day one of summer and committed to be better and they put in work to not only grow individually but as a team. Last year we won in PKs, this year we left no doubt who the best team in the city was.” Heil also said “A lot of these boys play together in the spring in club and throughout the summer! It’s great to see all the teams come together in one place.”
The Spartans who just last weekend won their own Invitational tournament have another big week coming up with three SMAC games starting with Kalamazoo Central on Monday.

Lakeview 5, Pennfield 0
The Spartans beat the Panthers in the semifinal 5-0. The Spartans started off the first half with a goal by Hung Ling late in the first half off or a rebound. Soon after Abram Thang scored from a beautiful pass from Smith Hlei.
The Spartans stepped up their fame in the second half scoring 2 quick goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to go up 4-0. Abram Thang again found the back of the net by forcing a turnover from the Panthers and Smith Hlei scored his first goal of the year from an assist by current Battle Creek Enquirer Athlete of the Week Mathew Bacik.
Uk Pi scored the final goal of the game from a pass from Smith Hlei.
The defense only allowed 2 shots on goal and Ben Ignatovich earned his 5th shutout of the year in net.

The Spartans responded to an early 0-1 deficit and countered with 6 goals. The Spartans knotted the game at 1-1 when Sang Sang was tripped in the 18 yard box and Abram Thang scored on a Penalty Kick.
The Bearcats stifled the Spartan attack in the first half. After some half time adjustments, the Spartans came out on fire with Alex Elliott taking advantage of a mid clear and firing a goal just under the crossbar from just outside the 6 yard box. Sang Sang then scored from outside the 18 on a rifle shot assisted by Matt Bacik to make it 3-1. Soon after Sang delivered a beautiful cross to Abram Thang, who scored his 13th goal of the season, and finished with a header into the upper netting. Senior Captain Andy Neal got into the scoring colum for the first time this season with a PK goal.Hung Ling scored the last two goals of the game with the last goal assisted by freshman Jadon Thang.
