Spartans fall to Portage Northern 0-2
The Lakeview Spartans played valiantly, but ultimately fell to the Huskies of Portage Northern late Tuesday night 0-2. The Spartans record goes to 5-4-1 (0-3 SMAC). They will again play on Thursday 9/16 at Lakeshore High School.
The Spartans played the Huskies to a 0-0 first half. At about the 50th minute of the game, the Huskies found the back of the net on a Spartan defensive mishap. The Huskies again scored in the last minutes of the game on a breakaway counter attack after a Spartan Free Kick.
The Spartans had 8 shots on goal and 6 Corner Kicks, but could not finish against the Huskies, who are in a 3 Way Tie for 1st Place in the SMAC.
Ben Ignatovich had 7 Saves for the Spartans.
