Lakeview Boys’ Varsity Tennis team takes 4th at Division 2 Regional
Lakeview Boys’ Varsity Tennis played at the Division 2 Regional on Thursday. Out of the 10 teams the Spartans tied for 4th. Portage Central was 1st, Byron Center was 2nd, and Zeeland East was 3rd.
#4 Singles Player Shuma Isobe earned runner-up honors with some outstanding play. Shuma defeated Zeeland and Mattawan before losing in the final to Portage Central in a 3 set match that ended around 10:00 p.m.
The #2 doubles team of Vikram Strander and Canyon Upston also earned runner-up honors. They played some great tennis to beat Wyoming in straight sets and then Gull Lake in 3 sets. They lost in a hard fought final to Portage Central.
#3 Singles Player Jacob Van Dis earned two points for the Spartans with a win over Ryder Simmons after receiving a bye. He lost to eventual champion Portage Central in the semis.
The #1 doubles team of Zane Huckaba and Alec Vondell earned 1 point for the team with a win over Battle Creek Central. They lost to eventual champion Portage Central in the next round.
The #3 doubles team of Zach Baker and Adam Schrader earned a point for the team with a straight set win over Wyoming. They lost to eventual champion Byron Center in the next round.
The LHS Boys’ Varsity Tennis ends their season with a 10-4-1 record, an All City Championship, a 3rd place finish at Conference and 4th place at Regional’s. Congratulations to all members on the team.
