Lakeview Boys Varsity Tennis wins Division 2 –#9 Regional on October 11, 2018

The Lakeview Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team continued an excellent season by finishing with 13 points and winning the Division 2 - #9 Regional on October 11, 2018.  The team thus qualifies for the state tournament to be played in Holland on October 19^th and October 20^th.  The final team standings were:

Battle Creek Lakeview – 13 points

Mattawan-11

Portage Northern– 11 points

Byron Center-10 points

Portage Central – 9 points

Gull Lake –1 point

Jackson-0 points

Wyoming-0 points

The top four teams qualified this year based on they each got 10 or more points.

The Spartans started strong with each of its players winning their first match to earn their first 8 points. Victories for the Spartans included  #1 Singles Jai Banerji, #2 singles Cole Henkel , #3 singles Cole Einhardt, #4 singles Vikram Strander,  #1 Doubles James Hager/Jacob Van Dis,  #2 Doubles Kooper Etheridge/Adam Schrader,  #3 doubles John Avery/Connor Miller, and #4 doubles Brenden Barnes/Soham Desai.

The Spartans earned second round points by winning five of its semi-finals flights before losing in the finals.  These players thus earned runner-up medals for the event:  #1 Singles Jai Banerji, #3 singles Cole Einhardt, #4 singles Vikram Strander,  #2 Doubles Kooper Etheridge/Adam Schrader and  #3 doubles John Avery/Connor Miller.

The team also finished their season unbeaten with a dual match record of 15-0-3.
