Record 4-4
Our expectations starting the season were to enjoy the "process" of rebuilding. We graduated 7 seniors a year ago. Therefore, we only had 1 returning player with varsity experience (Karlie K.) , ready when the season started. We now have 2, with the return of Sunshine Johnson (1-09-18). WE ... didn't want to put too much pressure on our young team to start the season. We talk about the "process of improving, daily" and when we "deserve to win" we will. Focusing on winning and losing would be the WRONG THING to put first, in my opinion. Those expectations would have been unfair and would discourage us from finding improvement, daily and with every "loss" we would be questioning whether the process was working...
It has been tougher the expected but so rewarding... We have hit the reset button a couple of times but I believe we're trending upward. Our resolution is to play #W1Nning basketball. To display characteristics of a winner. Work hard! with 1ntensity! and make No excuses ( #W1N). I believe, thanks to tremendous player leadership, we are headed in the #W1Nning direction, whether the scoreboard indicates it or not!
I would give us a C+ grade. I just KNOW we can play better basketball and WE WILL! BUT, It took us a little longer then I would have liked or expected, to "buy-in" and "sell-out" for one another...The Team! The Team! The Team! ... and even today, we have a long way to go but I'm excited about the rest of this season and the future of LHS Girls Basketball. If we could officially win 11 to 12 games or more... this season, we would be thrilled with our "process" and celebrate our "progress". But we will NOT get distracted from our process by any scoreboard!
