First Day of Practice: is on August 12th from 8:00-12:00. We will have 2 hours of practice and then 2 hours of challenge matches. Practices will also be the same time on Thursday and Friday. Then next week we will have practices from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Final Forms/Physical To participate on the first day players must be registered in final forms for tennis. This includes having all parent forms signed, student forms signed, and physical form part signed. All athletes need to register for athletics by going to https://www.lakeviewspartans.net/main/otherad?contentID=46513651 and then click on the link for https://lakeviewspartans-mi.finalforms.com/ to register on Final Forms. Players and parents must also download, print, and complete the 2020-2021 MHSAA Sports Health Questionnaire. Through the form you will see at the end it says a yes answer to any of the questions will require the athlete to get a new physical this year. The link is here: https://www.mhsaa.com/portals/0/Documents/health%20safety/healthquestionnaire.pdf
Players or parents can either drop this off to the athletic office or drop it off to Coach Van Dis or Coach Smith at the LHS tennis courts on Tuesday between 12:00-1:30.
You must be academically eligible. As of now you do not have to pay the athletic fee of $80 yet to the athletic office. The athletic director will let us know when we it should be paid. If you paid already that is OK. .
COVID 19 Information
It is very important that players, coaches, and parents follow our Covid 19 guidelines for this year for the safety all people.
The following is the link from the MHSAA website for 2020 Return to Play Guidelines - https://www.mhsaa.com/portals/0/Documents/AD%20Forms/PACKET%20BTN.pdf
We recommend you read this.
Below are some specific points we will want to emphasize at all times at our practices and matches.
Players will be screened daily with a temperature check and the screener sheet. If a players does not pass the screener or has a temperature of 100.3 or higher they will be asked to go home.
Players must practice Social Distancing of 6 feet or more.
Players must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before they come to practice/match and after.
No handshakes/high-fives/fist bumps between competitors, doubles partners, athletes, and coaches.
Wear masks to and from practice. You will need one at practice to go into the bathrooms.
No team huddles.
If a player tests positive for Covid 19 then the school will follow the county health department’s guidelines. If a student athlete has been tested for Covid 19 and they are waiting for results they should NOT be attending workouts until the test results comes back. If a student athlete tests negative they may return to workouts with documentation. Lastly, if they are positive, the student athlete is not allowed to participate in workouts for at least 14 days AND must provide documentation to return to workouts.
If players or parents cannot follow our guidelines they will be asked to leave or be removed from the team. We must be safe and follow guidelines.
Code of Conduct: Student-athletes and families should review the student handbook and Life of the Athlete in order to understand all school and athletic policies.
Practice/Match Day: All players are expected to attend, be on time, listen, learn, and give best effort. If a player has to miss a practice or match for any reason, it is your responsibility to get in touch with Coach Van Dis for Varsity and Coach Smith for JV before the practice/match. Leave a message or text. You will also need a parent contact to be excused. Do not rely on a friend or teammate to pass a message along to the coach. That would be an unexcused absence. If tardy a player will still complete their conditioning and miss part of practice. Tardies of 3 or more = loss of next match. Unexcused absences = loss of next match.
Sportsmanship:
Display self-control in ALL situations. Never use foul or abusive language. Foul language at practice you will be asked to be done with practice. During a match = warning and then match forfeiture. Throwing a racquet hard = loss of practice or during a match = forfeiture. Unsportsmanlike line calls =warning then forfeiture.
Cell Phones: Cell phones are not to be used from the beginning of practice until the end of practice. Cell phones are not to be used once a match begins until the match ends for your team. Any emergency use of phone must be cleared through the coach. Breaking cell phone policy – 1st time – Warning and exercise/miss part of practice – 2nd time – Loss of next match.
Bus/Van/Car Transportation: Players can travel to travel to most matches on
the bus/van or can travel with a parent. For matches this year during the week we will need parents to help transport players back to LHS. We will also need parents to drive to matches/tournaments on the weekends since we will not have bus access.
Home Matches: For home matches varsity players stay at the match until the last varsity match is over and junior varsity players stay at the match until the last junior varsity match is over. Support your teammates and team in a positive manner. As of now players when not playing a match will be required to wear a mask. Parents will also be required to wear a masks at matches.
Uniforms: Uniforms are to be ordered online from Jack Pearls Team Sports. Each player needs to purchase the required shirt and required short. The short is the same as last year. There are also other spirit items (performance wear jacket, shorts, hooded sweatshirts, and shirt) you and parents can purchase that are made for Lakeview Tennis. Go to the Jack Pearls web page site of https://lhsboystennis2020.itemorder.com Click on the items you want to purchase to your cart. Then follow the check out instructions. Orders need to be in by Wednesday, August 12th. Orders will be delivered to the coaches. If you don’t want to order online then you will need to go to Jack Pearls Team Sports. If you cannot afford the required uniform the boosters will purchase it for you. We will collect these uniforms bought by the boosters at the end of the season. Players are required to wear the team uniform to all matches.
Boosters: I will give players handouts for our Patron Ad Program and Banners on Wednesday. It will also be posted then on our Facebook page. We need parents help in making our program improve each year. Our boosters program consists of President: Dr. Kip Etheridge, Vice President: Joe Einhardt, Secretary: Laurel Henkel, Treasurer: Tracy Miller, Board Members: Sandra Melges, Julie Ruger, and Ritu Ciampa. Our fundraising chairperson is Mark Miller.
Practices: Check the website – http://www.lakeviewspartans.net/
LHS Athletics Website: http://www.lakeviewspartans.net/ - this is how coaches will communicate – Players need to create a fan account. Parents are strongly encouraged to create a fan account. This is how we will give you real time (e-mails or texts) up to date information about the team. Please register online. Parents can take pictures that can be added to the website. See details on the site.
Parents: Please contact your coach with any concerns or if you would like to help in any way. Please do not coach during matches – that’s our responsibility. Encourage and keep all cheering positive. Please see Spectator Guideline below.
