Jr.  Mason Evans won his consolation round match this morning with an Inj. Default over Joey Muzzin of Brownstown Woodhaven.   Mason was up 7-1 at the time of the injury in the 3rd period.   Mason will wrestle Brian Case of Davidson in the next round.   If Mason wins that match he will wrestle for 3rd and 4th.  If he losses he will wrestle for 5th & 6th.    

So.  112 lbs   Bryce Brust advances to the MHSAA Div. 1 State Finals with an exciting 10 - 9  win over Kyle Borthwell of Westland John Glenn.    Bryce will wrestle for a state title tomorrow night at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Jr.  145 lbs Mason Evans wins his blood round match 7-1 over Alan Matthews of Grandville.   With the win Mason secures All-State honors and will wrestle in the first round tomorrow to try and move up the podium.  

The Spartan wrestlers had a solid first day at the Div. 1 State Finals on Thursday.   Bryce Brust beat Rhett Newton (Detroit Catholic Central) 7-2.  Mason Evans best Tanner Bryan (Walled Lake Central) 12-2 and Stephon Moody beat Chris Hackney (Fraser) 8-5.    Chase Seeley lost his first round match and will wrestle this morning to try and advance through the consolation bracket.   The three winners will wrestle in the quarterfinals at the 10:30 a.m. session this morning.    

So. 112 lbs Bryce Brust wins his quarterfinal match this morning to advance to the Semi Finals tonight at 7:00 p.m.   He pinned Steven Garty of Davidson in the 3rd period to advance.   The win not only puts Bryce in the semi finals but cements his position as an All-State wrestlers.    

Last night the Spartan Grapplers beat Mattawan 47-15 and Loy Norrix 48-30 brining their season record to 21-3 and 4-0 in the conference.  Chase Seeley reached the 100 career win milestone with 10-5 decision over Mattawan.

Friday night the Varsity B will be traveling to Comstock for an Individual Tournament.

Saturday the Varsity A will be traveling to BCC for the Bill Evans Invite.

The Lakeview Varsity Wrestling Team dominated East Kentwood, Grand Haven, and Mendon on Saturday at the Grand Haven Duel Tournament.   The Spartans lost a close match 38-36 to Muskegon Reeth-Puffer in the Championship Match.    The Spartans will be on the mat at the All-City Championships on Wed. Dec. 28th.
