Lakeview Girls’ Varsity Tennis

SMAC Tournament

The Lakeview Spartans Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team finished the SMAC Tournament tied for 5^th place out of 11 teams.  St. Joe won the tournament with 21 points.  The Spartans finished their dual season in the SMAC East at 4-1-1 to tie for 2^nd Place out of the 6 teams. 

Lakeview had one champion in #4 Singles Haley Lesiow.  Haley defeated Claire Dirette in the finals from Portage Northern by the score of 7-5, 6-2.  Haley also defeated Mattawan in the semifinals by a score of 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4. 

The #2 doubles team of Kyla Marquez/Co Nguyen were runner-ups out of the 11 teams.  They defeated  Portage Central in the semi-finals 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (5) and eventually lost to champion St. Joe in two sets.

All players earned points for the team via their seeding or with direct wins against opponents.  Players that had direct wins were #1 singles Megan Wendt, #2 singles Michelle Zhang, #1 doubles Mei Abe/Breh Ruger, and #3 doubles Kendall Johnson/Madison Schrader.  Players that earned points based on their seeding were #3 singles Autumn Babas and #4 doubles Brigitte Colquhoun/Kelsey Marquez.

The Spartans play next in the regional Friday.
